Energy vehicle  (noun)  a small road vehicle of three or more wheels whose main design consideration is energy efficiency. Commonly used by teams of school students in competitive trials of 24 hours duration. Often referred to as human powered vehicles (HPV’s) or hybrids. The phenomenon is common in South Australia and Victoria.

From humble beginnings in 1999, energy vehicle competition has grown to become a major feature of the curriculum at Weeroona College Bendigo. Many students have taken the opportunity to be involved in this exciting and engaging activity which includes events like the RACV Energy Breakthrough and the Wonthaggi Human Powered Grand Prix.

You can learn about the program at Weeroona, and our vehicles, efforts and achievements on these pages. There’s also some hints and links to help people build vehicles and participate in this educational and fun activity.
