Profile: John Taylor Energy Vehicle Coordinator John is the
Technology Studies Coordinator at Weeroona College and teaches
electronics, robotics and energy vehicles. He started the energy vehicle
program from scratch at Weeroona in 1999 and has been the major
contributor to the development of the college teams and vehicles since
then.
John became interested in the activity whilst teaching at Bendigo Senior Secondary College. He clearly remembers the first time he saw the RACV Energy Breakthrough and was captivated by the size, energy, technological creativity and educational value of the event. John assisted the BSSC teams at the event and on transferring to Weeroona College he applied what he had learnt to the new setting. John’s background is engineering and he taught mathematics and physics for the first 20 years of his teaching career. He has a keen interest in vehicle engineering and has readily sought information and assistance from others more experienced in this activity to create Weeroona’s distinctive and effective vehicles. The success of the program at Weeroona is due to more than the input from John. He readily gives credit to the large number of teaching staff and parents who have helped over the years. John has conducted workshops about the RACV Energy Breakthrough at teacher conferences and has willingly helped other schools to get involved in the activity.
